Buick was once the largest car maker in America. Using the profits from this, the company on a series of corporate acquisitions, calling the new mega-corporation General Motors.
At first, the manufacturers comprising General Motors competed against each other. Eventually each General Motors division targeted one class of buyer, Buick was near the top of the league of prestigeous vehicles - only the Cadillac brand had more prestige.
